Cupcake Chic September 13, 2010

It’s been a great 3-day weekend…meeting up with friends, relaxing at the cinema with the family, going on a solo shopping spree and gorging oneself on three sinfully flavourful (read: rich in calories, laden with either sugar or salt) meals/snacks within a space of 24 hours.

Not part of this 24-hour binge though, was 6 delictable cupcakes purchased from this nice stall in Sunway Pyramid called Cupcake Chic. That of course, only means that I packed on more calories after the 24-hour binge…but it also meant that I had the sense to take photos of these lovely creations (ignore the empty spot, it was a second cupcake of the almond-adorned variety).

Here are some close-up shots.

Cookies ‘ N Cream – Oreo cookie cake with vanilla frosting

24 Karat – carrot, raisin and walnut-based cake with tangy lime frosting

Peaches ‘ N Cream – peach-based cake with Chantilly cream and almond slices

Green Velvet (limited time only in conjunction with Ramadan) – cocoa cake with cream cheese frosting

Fatal Attraction – Belgian chocolate cake with chocolate frosting

At RM4.50 a pop, these cupcakes qualify as a splurge for my family. But I gotta say, we were well-rewarded. The texture of the cake portion of the cupcake was just nice – not too moist, not too dry – and it wasn’t too sweet, letting the sugary frosting, which was each of a different taste, to do its job to compliment.

Honestly, biting into these cupcakes remind me of when I was first introduced to them in the USA. Lovely. I’d definitely go back for more!
